who is tails?

miles "tails" prower ('miles prower' being his full legal name while 'tails' is his nickname) is a character who originated from the sonic the hedgehog series of video games. he was introduced in sonic 2 for the sega game gear, though he is more famous for his second appearance in the sega genesis version of sonic 2. he is an 8 year old fox who was born with two tails due to a genetic abnormality, which is where his nickname comes from. he uses his twin tails to fly, spinning them like helicopter blades with enough force to lift himself into the air. he is one of the smartest characters in the series, often using his intellegence and technilogical prowess to figure out solutions to tough problems, building technology to benefit himself and his friends on their adventures, pilot many different aircraft machines like planes and mechs, and more. he is very sweet, friendly, bright, and loyal.

tails is from west side island, the location of sonic 2 and where he would end up meeting his best friend and older brother, sonic the hedgehog. in his past, he was bullied by other island residents due to his two tails (and perhaps his extreme interest in technology as well, but i'm unsure if that's exactly canon.) when sonic rushed to defend him from the bullies, it inspired the previously timid and quiet fox to become more optimistic, outgoing, and courageous. from sonic 2 onwards, he would stick by sonic's side, aiming to be a hero like him. he may have started off as his sidekick, but has since become more independent with age, improving his abilities and knowledge over time. currently, he is mostly seen in his workshop working on his newest inventions or going on adventures with sonic and his friends.

how do i feel about tails?

tails is an inspiration to me, and a character i have pretty much always been emotionally attached to. in the past, and often times to this day, i have struggled with being an odd-one-out and an anomaly in comparison to my peers. it has led to me being a victim of bullying and manipulation. tails, too, is an anomaly, being a twin-tailed fox with incredible intellegence and abilities despite being only 8 years old. he has alot of traits i can relate to. he has a unique way of seeing the world, is always willing to help his friends while not expecting anything in return, often doesn't think about how much he and his talents are valued by his friends, can be withdrawn, insecure, and timid at times... and there are plenty of more that sort of go into headcanon-ish territory, haha! the point is, i know how it feels to want to fly high, to reach the highest of all the heavens, to prove to the world that despite it all, people love you, support you, and appreciate your help and all that you do. there will always be people who look down on you, whether for your physical traits, mental traits, personality, or more beyond that. what matters most are the people who don't judge you by your cover and are supportive of your contents, much like tails with his own little family and friend group he has formed over the years, and much like the friends i have gained over the years, as well.
